Description

The increased levels of phosphate in blood are treated by the medicine called “Sevom”. The patients who suffer from kidney diseases and problem, and are on dialysis are recommended this medicine. “Sevom” should be swallowed with food. It should not be chewed or broken or crushed. The dose and time should be consulted with your doctor.

‘Sevom’ limits and controls the soaking up of phosphate from the intestine. Also, the phosphate levels in the blood are lowered by taking this medicine.

There can be side-effects of this medicine which the patients might face. For example, patients may suffer from indigestion, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, pain in upper abdomen, etc. 

This medicine should not be taken during pregnancy. Patients who have liver disease can also take this medicine. Sevom should be taken with meals. A doctor should be consulted before taking this medicine if you have undergone any surgery or if you have problems like nausea and vomiting. Also, doctor must be informed if you are allergic to sevelamer.
