Description

Clinical pharmacology-The 0.1% concentraion of tacrolimus ointment was approved for the treatment of adults, while the lower 0.3% concentration of “Tacrol” was approved for the treatment of both children (ages two and above) and adults for short term and intermittent long term therpy.
The exact mechanism of action of Tacroliums is not known, however, “Tacrol” is a topical immunomodulator (TIM) That acts at the
site of the immune imbalance to help in stop, the autoimmune reaction.
Pharmacokinrtics- Tacroliumus is metabolized in the liver but with topical use very little quantity is absorbed. There was no eviidence of systemic accumulation of Tacrolimus in Patients (adults and children) Treated for prolonged (up to one year) with “Tacrol” Ointment.
